- Children are eligible for a library card once they are entering first grade and can print their full name. Their parent/guardian is responsible for monitoring their use of library materials.
- Updated information regarding all of our children's programs and services is provided in the Independent Republican newspaper.
- All programs are free; a nominal materials fee may be assessed for craft programs.

Policies Relating to Children
- The Goshen Public Library takes no responsibility for children left unattended.
- The Picture Book Room is equipped with puzzles and stuffed toys for the amusement of young children while their caregivers select library materials in the area.
- It is the responsibility of the library staff to assist patrons with their information needs.
- Caregivers are responsible for the safety and conduct of children in their care while in the Library or on its grounds.
- Children will not play on the stairs, run, crawl, pound on the computer keyboards, or move library materials from one shelf to another.
- Children under the age of 10 will be supervised by their caregiver at all times in the reading and stack areas of the Library.
- Preschoolers and Elementary School aged children enrolled in Library programs will remain in the meeting room until picked up by their caregiver.

- Caregivers are expected to be aware of the Library's hours of operation, and to pick up children prior to closing.
- In the event that a child is left at closing, the Goshen Village Police will be contacted to provide supervision for the child.
- Children expected to call home from the Library should be provided with 35 cents for use of the pay phone.
- Children 17 or younger may borrow videos if they have parental permission on record.
- Children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult when using electronic resources.
- Children aged 10-18 who have a signed Parental Consent form on file may use the internet unattended. It is strongly recommended that parents/guardians supervise the use of the internet by their minor children.

Registration Policies
- In person at the Goshen Public Library for Pre-School programs; by phone (294-6962) or On-line for School-age programs.
- One adult per family unit.
- A parent's valid Goshen Library card must be presented at registration.
- Programs are open to residents of the Goshen Central School District, or fee-paying patrons from untaxed areas.
- Children must be of specified age by the first sessions of program.
- Space remaining after first day registration may be filled by out-of- district children attending Goshen schools. This applies to school-age programs only.
Special Programs
- Guest entertainers, such as magicians and storytellers, are sometimes invited to the library.
- Visits can be arranged for community groups such as day care, Nursery School, Scout Troops, Headstart, school classes and other agencies that serve children.
- Our chldren's librarian is also available for visits outside the library.
