Ice Cream Social - a fun night for all

The Friends hosted our annual Ice Cream Social on Thursday, June 26th from 7:00pm - 8:00pm on the front lawn of the library. Terrific music by Squeaky Clean and ice cream donated by Elizabeth Gerasolo of What's the Scoop? (also known as 'the Ice Cream Stand' on Matthews St. in Goshen), made for a wonderful summer evening for all attendees. A special thanks to Elizabeth for generously donating the ice cream that night!

GREAT AMERICAN WEEKEND BOOK SALE

A great big thanks from the Friends to all who participated in our Great American Book Sale on Saturday, July 5th. It was a terrific success, raising over $1700! It could not have been the success that it was without the efforts of the following people. A special thank you to:

Quilt Raffle

The beautiful quilt shown here was donated to the Friends of the Goshen Public Library and Historical Society by a group of Goshen quilters. The project, worked on by eight local women, took two years and a trip to New Hampshire (to pick fabric) to complete. Tickets for the Quilt raffle are on sale at the library or by contacting Maria Robinson (926-5690) or Mary Pat Smith (651-1135). Tickets are $2 each or 6 for $10. The drawing will be held on Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008 at the Friends' Holiday Social. This quilt would make a fabulous wedding gift, new home gift or gift for yourself! Be sure to get your tickets and good luck!

Next Friends Meeting - July 14

Our last meeting before our 'summer break' will be on Monday, July 14th at 1:30pm in the downstairs meeting room of the library. There will be no meeting in August and we will start up again in September. Shed Sorting - July 23rd

The last shed sorting for the Friends will take place on Wednesday, July 23th at 9:15am. We will be going through the books that did not sell at our Great American Weekend Book sale and weeding out old books to make room for new donations. If you are able to help out, please come on down to the library! (We will reschedule if the weather is bad that day.) Thank you!

COME GET INVOLVED!

The Friends of the Goshen Public Library need your support and involvement! Are you a member of the Friends yet? If so, thank you! If not, please pick up a registration form at the library, fill it out and mail it back or give it to the staff at the front desk. We need active members as well as individuals interested in filling open board positions.

Friends Meetings are held the 2nd Monday of each month at 1:30pm in the downstairs meeting room at the library. Dates for 2008 Friends Meetings:

March 10th
April 14th
May 12th
June 9th
July 14th
August - no meeting
September 8th
October 13th
November 10th
December 8th
