Looking for Something?

Main Page

There are a few different ways to navigate this site.

The Main Page contains easy access links to the most commonly used features of the site. It also contains a menu at the bottom of the page, "Dig Deeper," which contains most of the rest of the content from our old menu. Our understanding was that the menu was at time confusing to people, staff included, which is what led us to change the look and feel. In addition, the new layout provides easier access to folks who can't or don't enable javascript, which the drop-down menu requires.

Site Index

The Site Index (previously the Site Map) lists every page on the site, broken up by category. If you don't immediately see something on the main page, this may be the way to go. It would also be the place to look if you can't access the Dig Deeper menu due to javascript restrictions.

Google Search Box

There is a Google Search box on the main page of this site, as well as on the Adult page, and some of the policy pages. If you're looking for something, and are in a hurry, just run a search, and be sure to mark the "this site" button. If it's here, it will find it for you.

Getting Help On-line

For immediate assistance:

Chat will open in a pop-up, new window, or new tab, depending on your browser and its configuration.

Research

Schoolwork

Got an assignment? Check out the Homework Help page for a list of sites offering homework assistance, search tips, and more. There's also E-Reference: Students, which offers searchable newspaper and magazine articles, amongst other things.

Reference

Vist our E-Reference page for a breakdown of our on-line resources by category, including newspaper indexes, and searchable full-text magazine and journal articles.

Local History

Due to space constraints, much of our Local History collection has been packed away, but we do have a Local History Search Request form that you can fill out if you're looking for specific information. You may also want to check the Genealogical Resources on the Internet Guide.

General

You may also want to check out the E-Reference page. Or, check out our blogs, which offer advice on search, software, the internet, and other techie types of things, book reviews, issues concerning parents, and a look into the administrative and planning side of things.

Events

Wondering what's coming up or looking for something to do? Check out our Calendar to see what events are approaching, and to Register on-line.

Just want a quick list? Upcoming events are listed on the main page, generally one week at a time. They are also listed on the Adult, Teen, and Children's pages, one week/month at a time.

Reader's Advisory

At this time, there are pretty much three ways to do your own Reader's Advisory through our site. You can keep up with staff reviews on the What We're Reading page. You could use NoveList, which offers reviews, search for similar books by author, and more. (Teens could also IM Jenni via Yahoo. SN: GosTeenLib) Or, you could stop by the Read Something New page. At the moment, it's mainly geared toward the Teen audience, although YA books are not just for teens. There are however a list of external sites revolving around reading and readers, where you can do things like search books others have recently read, or reviews members have recently written, and even join the community if you like.
