A Day No Pigs would Die, by Robert Newton Peck    - Campbell

It starts out in a quiet little town called Learning, Virginia. The Peck family is a farming family built on hard work, moral values, and a knowledge of nature and animals. The Tanner family's cow was having labor troubles when Robert saved the cow. In return for his heroism, Mr. Tanner rewards him with a piglet named Pinky. Dragon and Soldier: the Second Dragonback Adventure, by Timothy Zahn    - Justin
Dragon SoldierThe second book of the Dragonback series is even better than the first. Jack and his K'da warrior/poet Draycos must find out who destroyed the K'das home world. The Hobbit, by J.R.R. Tolkein - Tony
The HobbitIn The Hobbit, a quiet halfling is visited by an old wizard, and a simple tea party leads to one big adventure. The discovery of Sting, Orcrist, Glamdring, and the creature Gollum will lead to the discovery of the smallest thing that would rule the fate of all. I recommend this book to anyone who likes action, riddles in the dark, and farewelling of friends.
The Blue Girl, by Charles De Lint - Jenn
Blue GirlImogene is a new girl at school. Soon, she makes a friend, Maxine, who doesn’t have many friends. Imogene is instantly disliked by the popular people. She is daily bullied by the head cheerleader and the quarterback. She also catches the eye of the school’s resident ghost. To add to it all, she is now being haunted by malicious faeries, her childhood imaginary friend is giving her cryptic messages, and soul-sucking evil things are out to get her. I give this book 9 out of 10 stars.
Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane, by Suzanne Collins - Justin
Gregor and the Prohpecy of BaneThe book Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane was very good. It was exciting, funny, and interesting. It is about a boy (around 12 years old) named Gregor, and his baby sister Boots. Gregor, Boots, and some other people/creatures have to kill the Bane (a giant rat) before Boots is killed. There are two books so far in the Gregor series. It is important that you read Gregor the Overlander before this one otherwise the whole book will not make any sense. That being said, I give Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane 9 out of 10 stars.

How to Disappear Completely and Never be Found, by Sara Nickerson - Jenna
How to Disappear CompletelyThis book is very interesting. At the beginning it was a little confusing but it is a severe page-turner. I was reading in school and continued reading it while I sat in the principal’s office following that. It is about a girl and a boy, whose lives are severely different who meet because of a mysterious house. I recommend this book because it is very exciting and keeps the reader interested. I give this book 4 out of 5 bacon strips (bacon being equal to stars).

She expels her sorrow by inking roses, bats, and ravens into her skin. She chops off her hair and sews thorns and nails on her clothes. A great book for people who understand the sadness of losing a family member and the hope that comes along with it.

The First Part Last, by Angela Johnson -Brianna
--Back to Top--
First Part LastI strongly recommend this book because while I was reading it I couldn’t put it down. Sixteen year old Bobby gets news from his 6-month girlfriend that she is pregnant. Now Bobby will have to learn to cope with being responsible for a child the rest of his life and give up his adolescent years. In my opinion, kids can’t raise kids, but that is a decision Bobby has made and will be responsible for. This is a great book about hope and raising a child on your own and still being a child yourself.
The First Part Last, by Angela Johnson -Megan
The First Part Last was a fantastic book capturing the truth about the struggles and stressfulness of teenage pregnancies. Bobby, a sixteen year old boy must now live with having a child to feed, cloth, and care for. With the mother not around for help or support, Bobby must learn to cope with the consequences of his actions and growing up when he should be able to enjoy being a teenager in new York City. He now has a hard life ahead and this wonderfully dramatic story will show how difficult being a “child with a child” really is.
Jinx, by Margaret Wild -Jenna
JinxThis is a book about a teenage girl who names herself Jinx after two boys that she went out with died. This book was very well written and is an intriguing page-turner. It has a different format on the pages that takes some getting used to but the interestingness of the book helps you ignore it. In my opinion bacon is the best thing in the world, the more bacon the better, when rating books I think about how many strips of bacon the book would be if it were bacon. I rate this book four out of five bacon strips.
